MYLAR VS. VINYL STENCILS

This will help you determine whether a Mylar or Vinyl stencil is most suitable for your project.

MYLAR VINYL
The material: A semi-transparent, durable Mylar
polyester plastic.

A thin white vinyl film with a low-tack
adhesive on a blue backing.

Most common usage: Primarily used to repeat a message or design several times. Or stencil the same message at different times. One-time usage for stenciling custom lettering.
Advantages:
  • Re-usable and washable
  • Relatively easy to work with
  • Won't easily tear or stretch

  • Good for stenciling long messages with "bridgeless" letters

  • Low-tack adhesive backing which allows it to stick to most surfaces and minimize the risk of paint leaking in under the stencils
  • Available on long sheets up to 10 feet.
